NewYorkRep develops and produces new plays and musicals that inspire and compel social change…

NewYorkRep unequivocally condemns the attack by Hamas on innocent civilians. We grieve for the horrific loss of life as the death toll rises in the Middle East and Ukraine. We condemn all hate here and on foreign soil. Our work strives to bring forth conversation that promotes pathways to peace, democracy, tolerance and acceptance of all humanity.

Our upcoming production of WAR WORDS, November 10th – December 17th is a docu-drama in the words of those who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars to fight terrorism and bring forth democracy. These individuals CHOSE to potentially sacrifice their lives for this privilege.

We will give them voice. We will learn why they chose to serve and what their experiences were there and what their lives are like now. We will come to understand what it means and who makes it happen when we say, NEVER AGAIN.

The first-ever fiction feature film about, written by, and starring people with nonspeaking autism.

We are proud to be the recipients of The New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and the Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York) A.R.T./New York Creative Opportunity Fund (A Statewide Theatre Regrant Program).

In 2022, finishing funds in the combined amount of $2 million were awarded to 89 music, theatre, film and digital media projects led by artists who identify as women or coming from a female perspective. The 2021-22 cycle was the third round of a $5.5 million, three-year program funded by the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) and administered by NYFA.

NewYorkRep's programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

“Council congratulates NewYorkRep on their grant award! These grants are from the people of New York State, for the future of New York State,” said Katherine Nicholls, Chair, NYSCA. “Arts and culture are crucial to the health of our citizens and the economic vitality of our communities, and we recognize the contributions of NYSCA grantees to the lives of all New Yorkers.”

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
